Bernie Acuna was born with Gabrielino blood on both sides of his family in the city of Alhambra, on January, 4, 1949. Growing up he was a well mannered son, a strong and caring brother of six siblings, and over the years became an active father to four children. Through the years, Bernie’s career led him to play an active role in sales management and later due to his residential movement he became a forest ranger in Idyllwild, California.

Currently, Bernie Acuna has made a decision to become an active member of the Gabrielino-Tongva Tribe. He has taken direction in a positive way to not only improve the lives of other Gabrielino Indians but lives of the community members of The Greater Los Angeles Area as well. Bernie Acuna has found inspiration from his grandmother, who is the oldest living member of the Gabrielino-Tongva Tribe to continue the fight for the tribe’s federal recognition.

I am extremely proud of being a Native American Indian, part of the Gabrielino Tribe, and being a husband and a father. Throughout out my life, I have worked diligently at all tasks, to demonstrate that I am a hard worker and a proud person. Today I feel even prouder to be selected as your Councilman.

As a representative of our Tribe, I will continue to demonstrate our proud culture and healthy work ethic during tribal events, business affairs of the Tribe, and at cultural events where I will represent the Tribe to the public.

I have been involved in the business community for many years, I will bring a wealth of business and personal experience and information that will help the Tribe make wiser decisions.

One of my character qualities is a genuine desire to help people. Whether it’s for my family, a stranger, neighbor, or fellow Tribe member, my desire is to be an assistance in any way possible. As a representative of our Tribe, I will continue to promote understanding and appreciation of our culture, and to demonstrate the Tribe is full of proud and hard working people.

My desire is to bring all this together, to not only make better decisions for our Tribe, but to be a positive example and role model to our members and surrounding communities.

Jerry Maldonado

I work with families & business owners to move them closer to financial balance. I start with a protection first philosophy to ensure that what they have today and what they will have tomorrow will not be exposed to risk. I guide my clients toward financial balance by using a holistic approach to financial planning and developing customized strategies that are unique to their financial world.

When I’m not helping my clients manage & grow their financial portfolio, I spend time with my family and playing baseball.
